Thermo Fisher Scientific Launches New Trace Elemental Spectrometer at Pittcon 2013
iCAP 7000 ICP-OES with Qtegra Software designed to streamline workflows, minimize cost per sample
PHILADELPHIA – Pittcon 2013 – (March 18, 2013) – Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, today introduced the Thermo Scientific iCAP 7000 Series ICP-OES (inductively-coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer) driven by Qtegra Intelligent Scientific Data Solution (ISDS) software. The platform, designed to streamline workflows and minimize cost per sample, facilitates trace elemental analysis in pharmaceutical, environmental, industrial, and food and beverage analysis applications, including regulated environments. Thermo Fisher will showcase the new instrument within booth 1835 during Pittcon 2013, being held in Philadelphia from March 17-21, 2013.
Qtegra ISDS software enables customized workflows in three simple steps from sample introduction through reporting and data interpretation. Pre-optimized methods simplify method development tasks, and powerful method development tools guide users through the process, facilitating even advanced workflows.
“Customers continuously cite the need to increase productivity and control costs, and we’ve built this platform for them,” said Adrian Holley, marketing director, trace elemental analysis, for Thermo Fisher. “The combination of accessible hardware and powerful software is designed to help even new users quickly get the results they need.”
The iCAP 7000 Series accommodates multiple sample types at high sensitivity, and features an advanced loop sample introduction design to enhance productivity. The instrument’s newly designed optics offer high sensitivity, and the swing frequency RF generator is designed for robustness.
Qtegra ISDS platform software is designed to be easy to learn and use, and can integrate a variety of peripherals into the elemental analysis workflow. This software also supports ICP-MS, providing an upgrade path from ICP-OES. Qtegra software is designed with the functionality to support users with 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.
The iCAP 7000 Series ICP-OES is available in three models: the entry level iCAP 7200 system for relatively low sample throughput requirements, the iCAP 7400 system for midrange throughput labs, and the iCAP 7600 ICP-OES, offering the highest throughput of the series and advanced support of accessories, such as laser ablation.
