FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GeneBio Announced the Release of Version 7.0 of the
Renowned Melanie 2-D Gel Analysis Platform.
Geneva, Switzerland – February 8, 2008 - Geneva Bioinformatics (GeneBio) SA
and the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB) today announced the release of a
new version of the renowned Melanie 2-D gel analysis platform. Version 7.0 of
Melanie offers an entirely revised user interface and user interaction modes
that streamline the analysis process, resulting in major usability and speed
improvements that greatly facilitate the completion of both simple and complex
tasks as well as high throughput analysis.
Melanie is developed by the SIB and GeneBio in collaboration with GE Healthcare
and is a recognized leader in the field of two-dimensional gel electrophoresis
analysis strengthened by an active 20-year presence in the market. It offers a
unique and flexible interface for the comprehensive visualization, exploration
and analysis of 2-D gel data from both DIGE (Fluorescence Difference Gel
Electrophoresis) and non-DIGE technologies.
This novel version of Melanie grandly improves the way researchers analyze their
2-D electrophoresis gels to identify protein markers of interest. It avoids
inaccuracies due to manual spot editing and minimizes repetitive match editing
tasks. It helps reduce time spent finding significant protein expression changes
and increases the reliability of the results, thus improving the chances for
proteomics professionals to achieve their research objectives.
Thanks to the collaboration between GeneBio and GE Healthcare, this new version
7.0 will be commercialised by GeneBio and GE Healthcare under the names Melanie
and ImageMaster 2D Platinum respectively. GeneBio will demonstrate this latest
release at the upcoming ABRF meeting in February (booth n° 219). Please visit us
at the conference or go to http://www.2d-gel-analysis.com to learn more about
this new version and the wealth of advanced features it presents.
“We are very excited with this new product launch as it fits perfectly with our
other existing products and continues our long-term relationships with the SIB
and GE Healthcare,” said Nasri Nahas, CEO of GeneBio. “Melanie has been part of
our portfolio for a number of years and customers return again and again to this
industry standard. This new release is a testimony to the three parties’
continued and reinforced commitment to the 2-D gel analysis field. We are very
happy to be part of Melanie and ImageMaster Platinum’s history and believe that
this latest version will contribute to the product’s reputation as an
industry-leading platform.”
“The Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics is proud of this latest iteration of
Melanie and confident in our ongoing development efforts with the teams at
GeneBio and GE Healthcare,” said Ron D. Appel, Director of the SIB. “Melanie has
been around since 1984 and continues to stay on the cutting edge of 2-D gel
analysis; this is a testament to both the quality of the product and the
innovative developments required to keep the platform at the top of its class.
The SIB is committed to remaining a key player in this field and we look forward
to a long and distinguished future for Melanie.”
